Marisa Zepeda, a native Texan, was born and raised in Houston. She attended Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge, MA where she received a degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science in 2006.While at MIT, she also completed the Teaching Education Program through Wellesley College, so she could receive her Massachusetts Teaching Certification in Secondary Mathematics. After graduation, Marisa joined the MIT Office of Admissions, where she had worked as a student intern for three years, as a full-time staff member.

After her time at MIT, Marisa then worked at Phillips Academy Andover, one of the nation’s top and most selective preparatory schools. Even though her primary role was in the Office of Admissions at Phillips Academy as an Associate Dean of Admissions, Marisa also served as a house counselor, academic advisor, and intramural coach.

After six years at Andover, Marisa returned to Texas, continuing her work in admissions and college counseling while being close to family. While in Texas, Marisa has worked as a Seasonal Admissions Reader for Yale University and the University of California at Berkeley. She has also worked with a number of education companies, non-profits, and schools, sharing her college counseling expertise with high school youth and education professionals across the United States and abroad.
